ABOUT US
Nancy
acquired her first rabbits in 1969 while living in Poway
which is in Southern California. They were the result
of a failed 4-H project from a child of one of her
co-workers. These were alleged to be Belgian Hares, but
most likely were just cross-bred whatchamacallit's.
These were supposed to be excellent meat rabbits, and
hence began her quest for the perfect edible rabbit --
yup she's still on the quest of finding the illusive
6-foot tall, solid chocolate Easter Bunny. Her "rabbit
habit" is believed to be the result of a genetic defect
as her father had raised rabbits back in the late
1930's.
Shelley
acquired her first rabbit in 1985. It was a French Lop
named "Thumper", which two years later was replaced by a
much smaller Holland Lop. She specialized in Tortoise
and broken Tortoise colored Holland Lops, Florida Whites
and Red New Zealands through the following 10+ years as
her 4-H and FAA projects.
Other
breeds which have passed through our rabbitry since
moving to Marysville in 1972 have been American Fuzzy
Lops, Californians, Flemish Giants, a Lionhead, Mini
Rex, New Zealands, Satins and Velveteen Lops; in
addition to American, Peruvian and White Crested
cavies. We currently specialize in Florida Whites,
Holland Lops in both Blue-eyed White and Chinchilla
colors, and Standard Chinchillas.
